Today Tomorrow Yesterday
Music and Lyrics by David Casey
This is last song I wrote for the album. During the few months prior to recording this CD, I had been taking my guitar into one of the bedrooms and playing for the kids at night. Sometimes I wouldn’t even play, but just sing a bit of a Beatles or James Taylor song or whatever came to mind. As I did this a few times, I was struck by two things. First, that my kids didn’t care what song I sang, or how it sounded. I could have been singing a recipe for corn bread and they were happy. They just liked that I was there, singing. And second, that it was so easy to make such a good and peaceful memory for them, one that they will always have.
Everything I saw, every sound I heard
Everything I spoke, every single word
Every place I went, every song I sung
Every thought I had, each and every one
Everything I did today tomorrow will be yesterday
Everything I did today tomorrow will be
Everything I did today tomorrow will be yesterday
Everything I did today tomorrow will be
Tomorrow will be
Soon tomorrow will be yesterday
Everything I held, everything I left
Every beat inside, every single breath
Every fear I felt, every risk I took
Every face I saw, each every look
